How Is Press Brake Tonnage Calculated?
Method for Calculating Bending Force for Sheet Material:
- P: Bending Force (kN)
- S: Thickness (mm)
- L: Width (m)
- V: Lower Die Slot Width (mm)
Calculation Formula:
The bending force P is calculated by multiplying 650 by the square of the thickness S, then by the width L, and dividing the result by the lower die slot width V. The material’s bending stress σb\sigma_bσb is 450 N/mm².
Remark:In usually,V should be selected 8-10 times of S, if the angle R has no special requirements.
