How Is Press Brake Tonnage Calculated?

Method for Calculating Bending Force for Sheet Material:

  • P: Bending Force (kN)
  • S: Thickness (mm)
  • L: Width (m)
  • V: Lower Die Slot Width (mm)

Calculation Formula:
The bending force is calculated by multiplying 650 by the square of the thickness S, then by the width , and dividing the result by the lower die slot width . The material’s bending stress σb\sigma_b is 450 N/mm².
